DHL Group and home and living e-commerce company Westwing have expanded their logistics partnership to offer faster deliveries, with reduced transportation-related emissions, across Germany and Europe.
Under the agreement, DHL’s Post & Parcel Germany division will handle a larger share of Westwing’s parcel volumes. Deliveries will also use DHL’s GoGreen Plus service, which aims to reduce transportation-related greenhouse gas emissions through investments in logistics solutions such as electric delivery vehicles, sustainable fuels and renewable energy. All Westwing shipments fulfilled by DHL will use paper-based packaging materials rather than plastic.
The partnership builds on an existing collaboration between the two companies, with DHL acting as a last-mile delivery provider for Westwing in Germany for several years. Market research conducted by Westwing identified DHL as its preferred premium delivery partner in Germany as part of the retailer’s broader logistics strategy.
Valentin Dessel, key account manager, Post & Parcel Germany, DHL Group, said, “We are thrilled to strengthen our partnership with Westwing. Together we look forward to delivering exceptional shipping services and supporting our customers’ values through GoGreen Plus.”
Erick Gerber, chief operations officer at Westwing, added, “By expanding our collaboration with DHL and making use of GoGreen Plus, we are not only making our supply chain faster, but also less carbon-intensive. This initiative represents an important milestone in our sustainability strategy.”
The companies are also expanding delivery options in Germany through pick-up and drop-off (PUDO) services to lockers and collection points. Initially available for Westwing’s permanent assortment, the option is expected to be extended to non-permanent assortments later this year.
To bolster its European logistics network, DHL invested in 2024 in an International Logistics Center in Poland. This facility, which is located about 2km from Westwing’s European logistics center in Robakowo near Poznań, is intended to streamline parcel sorting and reduce transportation times, enabling quicker distribution of Westwing products to customers in Germany and other European markets.
According to DHL, the site will allow some orders for German customers to be delivered in as little as two days. DHL eCommerce will also support Westwing’s expansion in selected European markets through its logistics network.
