Australia Post has opened a new, purpose-built delivery center in Murray Bridge, the second of four new facilities opening as part of an investment to modernize its delivery network across regional South Australia.
The facility replaces the former delivery site and is designed to support growing parcel demand while improving efficiency, safety and sustainability for team members, customers and businesses across the region. The 1,143m2 site can process up to 2,600 parcels per day. It is fully electric and powered by rooftop solar and battery energy storage.
“Online spend in South Australia rose 14% to A$5.6bn (US$3.96bn) last year, according to our latest annual eCommerce Report,” said Shane Plant, Australia Post‘s executive general manager of network operations. “As more people shop online, particularly in regional areas, we’re continuing to invest in our regional network to keep pace with demand and changing customer needs, to deliver a better, more reliable service for our customers into the future.”
“Designed to improve safety for our team members, increase capacity and streamline operations including transport flows, the new facility will help our team get parcels on the road faster and deliver them to our customers as efficiently as possible,” Plant said. “It will also strengthen our ability to support local businesses, helping them reach more customers and grow through e-commerce.”
The opening reflects Australia Post’s continued investment in upgrading its network to improve service reliability and support growing regional communities. It forms part of a broader commitment to the state, with new facilities also planned for Kadina, Tanunda and Port Pirie, alongside Australia Post’s A$500m (US$353m) Adelaide Parcel Super Hub, currently under development and expected to open in 2028.
Customers can continue to access postal services at the nearby Murray Bridge Post Office and Murray Bridge South LPO. Free, secure parcel lockers are also available at Murray Bridge Post Office for around-the-clock delivery collection.
