Australia Post has signed a multimillion-dollar, three-year agreement with telecommunications company Telstra to provide connectivity across almost 4,000 locations nationwide.
Telstra will supply connectivity to Australia Post’s post offices, delivery centers, data centers and corporate sites. The agreement includes access to Telstra’s Adaptive Networks Centre, a digital platform that gives users greater visibility, flexibility and control over network services through a single interface.
Around 300 locations will be upgraded to fiber-to-the-premises connectivity, while some additional regional sites will transition to Telstra satellite internet over the next 12 months. The agreement builds on the deployment of satellite connectivity to more than 270 Australia Post locations.
Australia Post said the investment will support technology used in customer services, retail operations and parcel processing, and that the upgrades, together with the Adaptive Networks Centre, will help it better understand and manage connectivity across its network.
Michael McNamara, executive general manager of enterprise services at Australia Post, said the three-year agreement builds on the company’s ongoing investment in technology to improve operational performance and deliver a better experience for customers across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia.
“Telstra’s national reach and network capability, particularly in regional Australia, made them the right fit for this partnership,” McNamara said.
Oliver Camplin-Warner, group executive of Telstra Enterprise, said, “We’re proud that Australia Post is one of the first organizations to adopt our Adaptive Networks Centre at scale, giving its teams greater visibility, flexibility and control today, and a platform that can evolve alongside the needs of its business and customers tomorrow.”
