The Republic of Ireland’s national postal operator An Post will increase mail prices from July 21, 2016, with the standard domestic letter rate rising from €0.70 (US$0.79) to €0.72 (US$0.82) and the standard international letter rate increasing from €1.05 (US$1.19) to €1.10 (US$1.25).

Despite the increase, An Post’s rates will remain among the lowest in the EU, including the UK, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, and will be below the EU domestic average of €0.93 (US$1.05).

An Post has also announced a new rate of €0.70 (US$0.79) per standard letter for its Ceadúnas bulk-mail service, used by Irish businesses posting more than 2,000 mail items a day.

A statement by the post operator said, “An Post is committed to providing excellent value for money, serving Irish business and being the trusted service provider of choice for business and personal customers.”
