PostNord partners with Alibaba to drive Chinese exports

Chinese e-commerce platform Alibaba has partnered with postal operator PostNord Denmark to help Danish and Nordic e-tailers to reach Chinese consumers and increase cross-border deliveries into the country.

The agreement gives PostNord the right to establish a Nordic platform on the shopping portal Tmall Global, a site which is particularly suited to companies who are not yet established in China or that want to broaden their e-commerce target group to include Chinese consumers. In a similar fashion, PostNord had been working with China Post, whose portal ule.com served as a gateway for numerous Danish e-tailers who wanted to enter the Chinese market.

Peter Kjær Jensen, head of business for e-commerce and logistics, PostNord, said, “China has about 350 million consumers who shop online, and Alibaba Group is the biggest e-commerce player. So we are thrilled about this collaboration, which makes it possible for us to help Danish and Nordic businesses sell their products in China, while we handle shipping.”

Amee Chande, country manager for the UK/Ireland and the Nordic region, Alibaba, said, “Danish and Nordic brands will now be exposed to the more than 100 million Chinese consumers who visit our platform in search of unique, international products. We see the collaboration with PostNord as a central partnership in Europe that gives Chinese consumers access to high-quality products.”
