Estonian parcel locker manufacturer Cleveron has developed a new self-driving delivery robot, designed to automate the last mile by depositing parcels at compatible lockers.

The vehicle is loaded with parcels at the depot before traveling autonomously to predesignated locations where the drone pulls up alongside the compatible parcel locker and deposits the package inside. The recipient then receives a notification on their smartphone saying the package has arrived.

Cleveron unveiled the prototype of the new robot at the Robotex conference in Tallinn, Estonia, on November 30, 2018.

Cleveron plans to start piloting the robot courier on the streets of Estonia in 2020 and has already begun piloting the personal parcel lockers.
