Whistl, the second largest postal operator in the UK, has announced it will invest in 100 new tractor units at a cost of £9m (US$13m) to replace part of its current fleet. The three-year deal with BRS, one of the largest contract hire commercial fleet companies, will see Renault trucks introduced to the Whistl fleet from June 2016.

The new trucks provide improved miles per gallon and meet the new Euro 6 Standard regulations. They also provide improved facilities for drivers including comfort seats, split bunks and a fridge.

The investment follows the completion of the management buy-out of Whistl late last year and the trucks with be located at various Whistl sorting depots across the UK including in Glasgow, Rugby, Warrington, Bristol and Iver.

Whistl CEO Nick Wells said, “We continue to invest in our infrastructure to ensure that we can provide the most efficient service to our clients as well as provide the most comfortable working environment for our colleagues.”
