Hermes UK has launched 70 of Iveco’s S-way Natural Gas vehicles as a part of its plans to reach net-zero direct and indirect carbon emissions by 2035.

These additions bring Hermes’s total compressed natural gas (CNG) fleet to 160 – around 50% of the company’s core hub tractor fleet. Each of the Iveco S-way units will emit 80% less CO2 emissions than a Euro 6 diesel vehicle. This is a reduction of 150 tons of CO2 per vehicle and over 24,000 tons of CO2 annually across the total CNG vehicle fleet.

The CNG vehicles will also reduce air pollution by emitting 70% less NOX, 99% less particulate matter, 90% less NMHC and 88% less methane.
