Sustainable energy supplier Eneco has secured a contract with European postal operator PostNL to install 22,000 solar panels on the roofs of 19 parcel sorting centers in the Netherlands.
The 22,000 solar panels will produce approximately 4.8 million kWh of green energy per year, which is equivalent to the yearly consumption of around 1,500 households. Each sorting center will be fitted with 1,160 panels that will produce 40% of the facility’s energy requirements. The project will begin with the installation of solar panels at PostNL’s Den Hoorn hub and will be rolled out to other centers throughout the year.
Gerrit Mastenbroek, managing director, Parcels and Logistics of PostNL, said, “When all the solar panels have been installed, PostNL will be one of the largest producers of solar energy in the Netherlands. This is an important step towards the realization of our sustainability ambitions.”

It is only logical that companies with buildings that have large roof areas opt for a solution that includes increasingly better and cheaper solar panels.
