National postal operator Lithuania Post handled approximately 60.3 million parcels in 2015, an increase of 12.5% when compared with the 53.5 million parcels handled in 2014.

Due to the growth of e-commerce, approximately 45% of all international parcels received by the post came from China. This was followed by Germany, the UK, the USA, the Netherlands and Poland. Meanwhile, the UK received the highest number of parcels shipped from Lithuania, which made up 16% of all international items sent. Germany was the next highest with 12%, followed by the USA (11%), Latvia (7%) and Poland (6%).

Rasa Radzevi?ien?, director of postal operations, Lithuania Post, said, “The deluge of postal items has been mostly influenced by Lithuania Post’s collaboration with international logistics and courier companies operating in the Chinese market, delivering postal items from China to European countries. These items are mainly purchases from foreign e-shops.”
