DPD launches innovative parcel delivery app

LinkedIn +

The UK-division of parcel delivery provider DPD has launched a new app today (May 16) that allows customers to enter a wide range of delivery preferences, helping to limit the chances of a missed delivery.

Customers using the ‘Your DPD’ app will be able to create a personal profile and enter preferences regarding times of the day to avoid delivering, details of a trusted neighbor, a designated ‘safe place’ with a photograph, and their preferred DPD Pickup parcel shop for parcels to be taken to.

The app can also use the smartphone’s geo-location-based technology to automatically alert the DPD driver when the customer returns home. So if a parcel could not be successfully delivered earlier in the day, the driver can now make another delivery attempt before they finish their round. The app user is sent a notification to advise that the driver is returning with their parcel.
