Parcel delivery provider Asendia UK has unveiled its plans to expand its facilities at London Heathrow Airport in the UK in order to meet an increase in demand from retailers for international parcel services.

Asendia will lease a dedicated 20,000ft² space alongside its current London Heathrow warehouse for the development of its tracked and untracked e-commerce processing solutions over the next five years.

Frederic Petton, CEO of Asendia UK, said, “Lots of retailers are realizing they can save money by switching to Asendia’s packet and parcel services, which is fantastic. To cope with the increase in demand and handle product delivery in a way that exceeds our clients’ expectations, we have set up this new specialist facility making use of recently vacant space next to our current warehouse.

“This will evolve this area of our business and bring all our Heathrow processing units into the same estate, so we can easily upgrade our facility to include the latest mail and parcel processing technology for faster turn around and increased workload.

“The feedback we’ve had from customers is great, and I’m glad that our global strategy to become a key partner to the retail sector is proving so popular. We of course remain committed to solutions for magazine publishers and producers of direct mail and business mail, but e-commerce retail is the booming sector where we need to innovate, and I look forward to making further announcements next year regarding the development of our distribution, returns, and fulfillment solutions.”
