UK parcel carrier Yodel has announced plans to open a new depot in Longford, Coventry. Covering 41,148m2, the new depot could process and deliver up to 50,000 parcels per day at peak, a 28% increase in output from the Leamington Spa depot, making it the largest within the Yodel property estate.

Prior to obtaining a seven-year lease from 2023, the Coventry location was used during a successful short-term period as a satellite site before the company’s busy Christmas season in 2022. The new unit will include a 30,175m2  warehouse and 1,828m2  of operational office space across two floors. It has been designed to cater for up to 175 vans and 275 courier sorts, with additional capacity for 35 trailer units.

Mike Hancox, CEO of Yodel, commented, “We are delighted to have the full support of all the stakeholders to open and refurbish Yodel’s new Coventry depot, which will improve best-in-class facilities for our colleagues, and ensure that we can be more dynamic and fit for purpose. It is an exciting time to be moving to a new location and an important step in expanding the business in the Midlands area.”

The new depot at Coventry offers ideal road network access to surrounding areas, allowing easy access for suppliers and colleagues.
