The Gothenburg region has been ranked the top logistics location in the Nordic region by Swedish trade publication Dagens Logistik.
In its assessment, the magazine highlighted the role of the Port of Gothenburg as a key hub for international imports and exports and a central factor in the region’s position as a logistics center.
Jacob Minnhagen, senior market development manager at the Port of Gothenburg, said the recognition reflects the port’s role in regional freight development.
“We are pleased with the recognition, which we see as confirmation of the port’s importance and the region’s joint efforts to build a strong and innovative freight hub,” he said. “Not least through an expanded network of shipping services and continued rail development linking the port to inland destinations resulting in record volumes in 2025, increased market shares and a strengthened role for the port as a hub for Nordic trade with the world.”
Dagens Logistik evaluated factors including the versatility, accessibility and sustainability of logistics infrastructure such as roads, railways, ports, air cargo airports and intermodal terminals. It also considered freight flows, import and export conditions, proximity to consumer markets, logistics expertise, labor availability, and research and education capacity.
The region’s logistics ecosystem includes collaboration between the port, Swedavia Landvetter Airport and Business Region Gothenburg, among other stakeholders, aimed at attracting further logistics investment.
The Port of Gothenburg is the largest container port and car/ro-ro port in the Nordics and is supported by an extensive rail network and road and air connections.
The ranking has been published for 26 years, with Gothenburg named the top logistics location 25 times. The list was expanded in 2024 from Sweden’s best logistics locations to cover the entire Nordic region.
This year, the Öresund region and the Stockholm region ranked second and third, followed by Oslo, the Baltics, Helsinki, Jönköping, Bothnian Bay and Central Jutland in Denmark.
