Visitors to Parcel+Post Expo, taking place at RAI Amsterdam on October 21-23, were treated to the launch of SwipBox’s new Infinity Flex and Connect models, which combine screen-based convenience with the simplicity of SwipBox’s battery-driven ecosystem.
Speaking at the launch on the company’s booth, Klaus Erler, SwipBox technical lead, explained, “It’s not that we don’t believe in our normal app-based locker anymore, but we have listened to the market and added some enablers. We have chosen to go the screen way, as many of our competitors have, but we have done it using all our experience and incorporated our knowledge and our normal way of working with low power and efficiency, so you get a long battery life.”
The new Infinity Flex 10 features a built-in screen and scanner in a 28-compartment locker; the Infinity Connect 10 is a standalone control module that can pair with any Infinity locker and move between sites, providing screen access as needed.
According to Erler, the modules have been designed with a keypad and functional keys for those who struggle to use a touchscreen. The tactile keys are ideal for visually impaired people and have been slightly angled to accommodate users at different heights.
Each unit can be installed in 10-15 minutes and has a battery life of up to one year, depending on use. Carriers only need one screen module per location, keeping setups simple and cost-effective, and users can choose to operate the lockers via the familiar app or via the new screen interface.
