International logistics and cross-border e-commerce solutions provider Spring GDS has announced a six-figure investment in artificial intelligence (AI) tools, training and projects across its European operations.
The investment will cover several applications with the aim of automating complex processes, optimizing supply chains and enabling real-time decision-making. These include:
- Smart routing and delivery: AI algorithms analyzing traffic, weather and delivery schedules to determine the most efficient routes, with optimizations leading to an average 10% less mileage and an equal number of CO2 reductions;
- Predictive analytics and demand planning: machine learning models forecasting demand to help clients, including retailers and SMBs, manage inventory and resources more effectively by reducing bottlenecks during peak periods;
- Automated sorting and tracking: AI-powered systems to streamline parcel sorting and provide accurate, real-time tracking information, including real-time updates on shipments for customers;
- Customer service: AI tools including chatbots, agents and virtual assistants to support customer inquiries and reduce response time, increasing efficiency of service by 30-40% on average without replacing the human interaction at the core of Spring GDS’s customer support. AI tools will free up specialists to focus on more complex issues while meeting and exceeding rising market expectations around response time
Kelly van der Weg, Spring GDS UK managing director, said, “We’ve demonstrated our commitment to the UK with new hires and expanded facilities this year. However, our commitment to AI-driven innovation shows we’re gearing up to deliver faster, more reliable and sustainable services for the SMBs, e-commerce providers and retailers who rely on us.”
