Beumer Group is showcasing the RobotPick at Parcel+Post Expo 2026. This fully autonomous robotic picking and singulation solution is designed to automate the handling of bulk parcels for courier, express and parcel (CEP) operators.
The system combines Beumer’s computer vision, robot control and adaptive vacuum gripping technology to identify, pick and place a range of parcel types, including cardboard boxes, carton bags, polybags and letters, automating up to 99.9% of bulk parcel handling under the correct parcel mix and operating conditions. Beumer said the system has already processed more than 1.75 million parcels in a live customer environment. Each robot cell can process up to 1,600 parcels per hour, with multiple cells working together to add capacity.
The system is modular, with between one and four robot cells configurable as standard on a single bulk feeding line and further cells added as demand grows. Each cell operates independently, so maintenance, software updates or servicing on one does not stop the others. Intelligent recirculation and automated handling of non-pickable items are designed to keep parcels flowing without manual intervention.
“Parcel operations are becoming more demanding every year,” said Matthias Höwer, global sales and systems director at Beumer Group. “It’s not simply a question of processing more parcels. Operators must also manage far greater variation in parcel sizes, shapes and packaging, while dealing with ongoing shortages of skilled labor.”
Speaking to PPTI at the show, Volder Sadowski, global product director at Beumer Group, explained what differentiates the system: “RobotPick is a solution where we can pick items out of a dynamic flow, meaning the items are not presented to the robot in a static way – they are passing by. When we select an item, we pick it and place it on the induction. If there is an item that cannot be picked due to its shape or because it is too heavy, then it simply passes by, goes to a manual operator or into recirculation if there is overflowing capacity.
“So, we do not have any stops in the system. The robot can always pick an item and can be utilized at 100%, bringing capacity over the whole shift.”
He continued, “The main challenge is picking a fully automated flow of bulk items. For example, you can tilt a roller cage and get the bulk flow onto the conveyor to the sorter, and then it is singulated by the robot. You do not need a single extra singulator. You simply have the bulk flow, and the singulation is undertaken by the robot.”
The system also integrates with Beumer’s operational monitoring platform, Beumer SCADA, and the company’s data-driven maintenance tool, BG Insight.
