DHL Group has announced plans to invest around €160m (US$185m) in France between 2026 and 2027, with a focus on expanding logistics capacity, upgrading infrastructure and accelerating decarbonization across its business divisions in the country.
The announcement was made at the Choose France Summit. The new investment brings DHL Group‘s total spend in France from 2018 to 2027 to nearly €900m (US$1bn).
“France is a vital logistics hub at the heart of Europe, and a key market for DHL Group,” said CEO Tobias Meyer. “With this investment, we are strengthening our infrastructure, growing our capabilities and accelerating our transition toward low-emissions logistics.”
The investment spans all DHL business units. DHL Express will direct funds toward fleet modernization, electrification and charging infrastructure, building on projects including the opening of the Paris Charles de Gaulle hub in 2021 and the Lyon-Saint Exupéry Gateway in 2025.
DHL Global Forwarding will develop alternative-fuel vehicles and upgrade handling and warehousing equipment.
DHL Freight will continue investing in alternative-fuel vehicles and facilities, with six real estate projects planned for delivery by 2030.
DHL Supply Chain will expand warehouse capacity in southern Paris, Orléans and Lyon, targeting growth in life sciences, healthcare, manufacturing, technology and e-commerce, while strengthening its 4PL capabilities through a control tower in Toulouse.
A significant portion of the investment is earmarked for sustainability initiatives to support the group’s net zero target for logistics activities by 2050. Planned measures include expansion of its electric vehicle fleet and charging network, increased use of sustainable aviation fuel, solar energy deployment across logistics sites, transition to low-carbon fuels for heavy goods vehicles and electrification of warehouse equipment.
