Whistl to upgrade delivery fleet in US$4m deal

UK-based postal operator Whistl has begun replacing its delivery fleet with 104 new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Vito vans in a £3m (US$3.9m) deal with fleet management and vehicle outsourcing firm Zenith.

The new vans will be fitted with Isotrak, a tracking system currently used in Whistl’s HGV fleet. This will boost the fleet’s fuel efficiency and improve the quality of service to customers through better visibility of collection and deliveries. The operations team can also use Isotrack to monitor the arrival of vehicles at depots. Whistl hopes that the new deal will reduce fleet costs by approximately 25%.

The roll out of the new fleet across the Whistl network is scheduled for completion by September 2016.

Nick Wells, CEO of Whistl, said, “We are committed to investing in our business to improve efficiency and the quality of service we provide to customers. I look forward to seeing the new fleet on the roads in the coming weeks.”
