The Asia Pacific Post Cooperative (APP) has announced that Sid Hart, previously chief revenue officer at HypaShip, has taken over from Gary Carroll as managing director.

The APP exists to demonstrate leadership and advocacy for the postal sector in the Asia-Pacific region, with a clear focus on strengthening the commercial outlook of the postal sector and its relevance to a varied group of stakeholders.

Hart was instrumental in the establishment of HypaShip as an end-to-end platform provider to the post, parcel and logistics industries.

Hart said, “Accounting for close to 60% of the total world population and approximately 30% of world GDP, APAC is a vital part of the world economy, and its posts have an essential role to play in facilitating growth. The APP ePacket service is just one example of how, by working together, APAC postal operators can overcome operational challenges and expand their reach and appeal to the requirements of modern customers.

“The postal sector has many challenges to face over the coming years, ranging from the opening up of the UPU to outside players, to increasing digitalization, and, of course, a rapid decline in traditional mail volumes and the accompanying shift to parcel volumes.”

He continued, “The APP represents a diverse membership with equally diverse challenges and opportunities. I’m honored and excited to build on the successes of my predecessor and to work with the team to help address those challenges, leading a renewed commercial and technical focus and ensuring that the APP continues to deliver value for its members.”

Lee Hon Chew, chair of the Asia Pacific Post Cooperative board and director international at SingPost, commented, “The APP has a crucial role to play in the development of commercial opportunities for postal operators across the region. We are delighted that Sid has chosen to join as our new managing director and have full faith that he will build on the legacy of his predecessor. His experience of the technical and commercial worlds and understanding of the postal sector will be a great asset to the APP. The APP board extends our thanks to Gary Carroll for the five fantastic years he has dedicated to the APP and wishes him well for the future.”

Hart took up his role with Asia Pacific Post Cooperative on January 4, 2022.
