Royal Mail will open nine temporary sorting centers across the UK to help cope with peak parcel volumes over the Christmas period. The centers will open on a phased basis on October 31, 2016.

Around 3,300 seasonal workers will be based in the parcel sort centers, where they will support the post’s 120,000 permanent employees. Royal Mail Group is planning to hire a total of 19,000 seasonal workers this year across its entire operations.

This is the sixth year that Royal Mail has opened a dedicated network of parcel sort centers, which now forms an integral part of the post’s resources to handle peak volumes over the festive period.

The parcel sort centers will be based in Bathgate in Scotland and Pontyclun in south Wales, as well as Rochdale, Leeds, Birmingham, Swindon, Greenford, Atherstone and Coventry in England.
