Romanian courier company Sameday has acquired Cargus, the first private courier firm in the country, as part of its efforts to improve its operational capacity, logistic infrastructure and quality of services for its customers.
Once the transaction is approved and finalized, customers of both companies will continue to benefit from improved services, according to Lucian Baltaru, CEO of Sameday Group.
“This transaction brings together Sameday’s agility, technology and efficiency with Cargus’s local tradition and expertise,” he explained. “Organizational culture is something we value and will treat responsibly. I firmly believe that this transaction will pave the way for sustained growth for customers and partners and create real professional development opportunities for colleagues in both local and international teams.
“The result we expect, following the approval of the acquisition by the relevant authorities and the finalization of the transaction, is an improved customer offering, better positioned to deliver efficient solutions and innovation to support the development of e-commerce and courier services.”
Both companies provide integrated national and international courier services, with a portfolio that includes delivery to an address or a fixed point. Pooling the experience and expertise of the two companies will help to improve the quality of delivery services and streamline logistics capabilities to offer competitive services to customers.
“We welcome this natural step in our company’s journey as it means more opportunities to invest in our business and people to continue improving services we provide to our customers across Central and Eastern Europe,” commented Belgin Bactali, CEO Cargus. “We are excited to embark on this new chapter together with Sameday and help build one of the leading logistics companies in the region.”
