Diamond Logistics has expanded its UK network with the addition of a new Cambridge operation, as part of plans to grow to more than 40 sites by the end of the year.
The new site will be operated by SD Transportation Services and will provide businesses in central Cambridge with access to same-day, overnight and international delivery services.
SD Transportation Services was founded five years ago by Stefan Dolby. The company has since developed a presence in Cambridgeshire, focusing on same-day courier and transportation services for local businesses.
The expansion forms part of Diamond Logistics’ broader strategy to scale its network in response to rising demand for outsourced fulfillment and flexible delivery services. The company, founded more than 30 years ago by CEO Kate Lester, has transitioned from a traditional courier business into a logistics and e-commerce fulfillment network supporting SMEs and online retailers.
A key component of this model is Despatchlab, Diamond’s proprietary logistics platform, which integrates courier services, warehousing and international shipping into a single system. The platform connects with more than 40 marketplaces and 60 carriers, providing operational visibility and enabling regional partners to scale their services.
Commenting on the launch, Lester said, “The launch of our new Cambridge operation is another important step in Diamond’s wider growth strategy as we continue to expand the network.
“For us, it’s about ensuring as many businesses as possible can access those services regionally, backed by the technology we have developed in-house, alongside nationwide coverage and expertise needed to support long-term growth, and this latest move enables us to deliver that.
“Right now, we’re on track to hitting our target of having over 40 members within our network, with several more close to being finalized over the summer, and we’re delighted that Cambridge has been added to that growing footprint – giving local businesses access to fast, flexible and scalable logistics solutions.”
Lester added that SD Transportation Services’ existing experience in same-day delivery made it a suitable addition to the network.
“SD Transportation Services was a natural fit for the network. They already have extensive experience operating same-day courier and transport services across Cambridgeshire, which complements our existing capabilities and further strengthens our presence in the region,” she said.
Stefan Dolby, CEO of SD Transportation Services, said joining the network would support the company’s long-term growth: “We’re delighted to finally be a part of the Diamond Logistics network, a move that we feel is going to allow us to grow in both a controlled and sustainable way over the coming years.”
