La Poste subsidiary Pickup has announced a strategic partnership with French retailer BUT to install up to 350 solar-powered lockers at its stores across France.
The partnership is in response to growing e-commerce volumes in the country, with online sales in France increasing by 9.6% in 2024 according to Ecommerce Europe’s national association FEVAD. The lockers will enable customers to collect their Chronopost, Colissimo – and soon DPD – parcels at a time and place that is convenient to them, 24 hours a day.
“This partnership with BUT reflects shared values such as accessibility, reliability and quality of service. By joining forces, we are strengthening Pickup’s network, while offering a practical solution to BUT’s customers, who will be able to combine the purchase of home equipment with the management of their e-commerce parcels, in a single trip,” explained Maxime d’Hauteville, CEO of Pickup.
The rollout of the Pickup lockers is underway, with 18 stores currently equipped and 30 more in the planning phase. The deployment will continue gradually over the coming months at BUT stores across France.
The rollout of solar lockers aligns with La Poste’s commitment to deliver 100% of parcels using zero- and low-emission solutions in 22 major French cities by the end of 2025.
