Posti Group has become the first company in Finland to receive the Nordic Swan Ecolabel for its e-commerce deliveries, with all of its consumer parcel services – including Postal Parcel, Home Parcel, and Small Parcel to Door – now carrying the label.
The Nordic Swan Ecolabel is awarded only to products and services meeting strict environmental criteria and is, according to a 2026 Finnish Brand Valuation Survey, the environmental label most highly valued by Finnish consumers. Posti said the certification supports its goals of achieving fossil-free road transportation by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2040.
Riikka Holopainen, CEO of Ecolabelling Finland, said, “Posti’s systematic environmental work and strong sustainability expertise were clear throughout the Nordic Swan Ecolabel application process. It was a pleasure to see the seamless cooperation between Posti and our experts. Finland’s first Nordic Swan Ecolabel for e-commerce deliveries is also worth celebrating because the example set by a market leader often has an impact on the entire industry.’
Jani Koivu, senior vice president of Posti’s e-commerce and delivery services, said, “We are very proud that, as the first company in Finland, all our consumer parcel services meet the Nordic Swan Ecolabel criteria. This demonstrates that environmental sustainability is not a separate objective for us, but an integral part of developing our services and conducting our daily operations.”
The label will be displayed at online store checkouts and Posti’s parcel lockers to help consumers identify the option when choosing delivery methods. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel sets requirements covering electric and gas-powered vehicle use, energy efficiency, transportation climate impact, supply chain efficiency, working conditions and road safety, and requires continuous year-on-year emission reductions to maintain.
Anna Heino, head of climate and nature at Posti, said measurable results are central to climate work: “We have systematically reduced our own emissions and developed our operations toward fossil-free logistics. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel provides independent recognition that we are moving in the right direction and that our sustainability work is reflected concretely in the services used by our customers.”
Posti said its own emissions had fallen 59% from 2020 levels by the end of 2025. The company noted that the label’s relevance will grow as the EU’s Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition directive, which introduces stricter rules on environmental claims, begins to apply in September.
