Swiss Post drops its truck fleet

Swiss Post has announced that it will no longer operate trucks over 3.5 tons and will instead outsource operations to an external logistics provider. The post has attributed the decision to a competitive letter market and the need to renew the remaining vehicles in its existing fleet. The realignment will affect 187 drivers although the post claims that every effort is being made to offer continued employment.

A statement on the company’s website said, “Subject to the results of the consultation process, 187 driving jobs are affected by this plan. The main points for the implementation of the plan have been discussed with the trade unions. Swiss Post will offer all the employees affected reasonable continued employment while also supporting them in their job search both within and outside the company.”
