Parcel delivery provider DPD France has extended its sustainable delivery network by deploying six new compressed natural gas (CNG) delivery vehicles in the cities of Bordeaux and Aix-en-Provence.

Virginie Lequy, operational process manager, DPD France, said, “Natural gas vehicles (NGVs), powered by CNG, are now a complementary solution to electrical systems, and form an integral part of our goal for robust electric vehicles that are suited to our business.

“Easily deployable for our corporate branch (parcel transport and express), subject to the installation of supply stations by local authorities, they are a quality solution that we have chosen for their carrying capacity, autonomy, reliability and robustness.

“Our current fleet of NGVs will continue to grow in the coming months. This growth is now possible because the authorities are paying more attention to this new alternative, especially after presentation of our delivery projects for the very heart of city centers using this technology. We see this as a very positive opportunity, and one that complements existing electric solutions.”

DPD France currently has 20 NGVs deployed in Lyon, Grenoble, Rouen, Toulouse and Strasbourg, with further deployments planned for Lille, Valenciennes, Metz, Limoges, Clermont-Ferrand, Saint-Etienne, Nantes, Annecy, Annemasse, Chambery, Valence, Avignon and Nice.
