DHL Freight has introduced a simplified road freight product structure across its European network, consolidating its offering into three core services.
The updated portfolio consists of DHL Road Freight Standard, DHL Road Freight Priority and DHL Road Freight Direct, aimed at making service selection clearer for customers while maintaining existing operational processes and contracts.
“Our customers need clarity when choosing the road freight solution that perfectly fits their needs,” said Markus Voss, CEO of DHL Freight. “With the optimized Road Freight Product Portfolio, we are introducing a clearly differentiated structure that enables faster and more confident decision-making.”
The Standard service will act as the default option for less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments, covering most day-to-day transportation needs. It provides door-to-door services for palletized and non-palletized groupage freight, with defined transit times and regular hub connections across Europe.
The Priority service is positioned as a premium option for time-critical international LTL shipments. It includes prioritized handling, enhanced pickup and delivery options and defined transit time commitments. DHL Freight said this service will also include a money-back guarantee for certain time-sensitive deliveries.
Road Freight Direct is designed for dedicated shipments, offering partial- and full-truckload (PTL/FTL) point-to-point transportation solutions.
According to the company, the revised structure is intended to improve transparency and comparability between services, while supporting more consistent execution across its network.
The changes will be reflected in customer-facing materials such as documentation, invoices and digital tools. However, DHL Freight said existing customer agreements, operational processes and service conditions will remain unchanged.
The new structure also provides a standardized framework for additional services and upgrades, including options such as cargo insurance, customs services and emissions-related offerings like GoGreen Plus Flex.
DHL Freight said the revised portfolio is designed to provide a clearer and more scalable framework for road freight services in Europe, enabling customers to align transportation choices more closely with their operational priorities.
