The 7th High-Level Joint Meeting on Postal Services between the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao was held in Kunming, Yunnan Province, on August 25, under the theme ‘Working together with one heart, integrating the Greater Bay Area – advancing high-quality development of the postal industry in Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao’.
The opening ceremony was jointly officiated by Guo Dajin, vice governor of the Yunnan provincial government; Zhao Chongjiu, director of the State Post Bureau; Liu Aili, chairman of China Post Group Corporation Limited; Tai Shuk Yiu, postmaster general of Hongkong Post; and Lao Lan Wa, acting director of the Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT Macao).
In his opening address, Lao Lan Wah said that as China enters its 15th Five-Year Plan and Macao advances its own 3rd Five-Year Plan, development of the Henqin Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone is opening new avenues for the region’s economic diversification. CTT Macao will continue to support integrated development between Macao and Hengqin, focusing on optimizing mail handling processes and expanding cross-border postal routes and transportation networks. Macao will continue to serve as a platform for trade cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries as part of the region’s broader national integration.
The meeting covered the overall situation and development of each postal administration, the sharing of postal resources across the three regions, plans for an efficient cross-border logistics system and land port hubs in the Greater Bay Area, and shared experience in postal technology and innovation.
The three postal administrations reached seven agreements during the meeting: deepening institutional cooperation to support high-quality development; jointly building a cross-border logistics system for the Greater Bay Area; developing land port hubs in the Greater Bay Area; coordinating transit mail and self-pickup mail services; strengthening joint prevention and control of security risks for mail and express items; expanding cultural exchange and cooperation in postal services; and increasing personnel exchanges between the three regions’ postal industries.
