Daimler Trucks has handed over the first all-electric FUSO eCanter trucks to customers in the UK, including DPD.

The electric light-duty truck (7.5 tonnes) has already launched in New York in the USA, Tokyo in Japan, and the German capital of Berlin.

In London, Daimler has handed over the FUSO eCanter vehicles to DPD, logistics company Wincanton and the baked goods manufacturer Hovis. These clients are initially starting with a total of nine FUSO eCanter vehicles in their fleets.

DPD will use two FUSO eCanter vehicles for an initial period of two years, Wincanton plans to use five of the trucks in its fleet, while Hovis will begin with two trucks.

The vehicles have a range of around 100km (62 miles) and are used in urban short-radius delivery in and around the UK capital city.

Daimler Trucks is reacting to the continuously growing demand for emission-free and low-noise urban distribution haulage.
