UPS expects to hire 1,300 seasonal employees in the UK this year to help with the anticipated surge in parcel volumes running from November to January 2017.

UPS has been working with its customers throughout the year to understand their peak shipping needs so that it can plan operations accordingly. Last year, UPS delivered 612 million packages globally during peak season. On December 21, UPS delivered more than 36 million packages – double the normal daily average. UPS in the UK has approximately 8,000 permanent employees, operates 60 facilities, and has a delivery fleet of more than 3,400 vehicles.

The operator stresses that full and part-time seasonal positions can become an entry point for permanent employment as many senior UPS executives, including CEO David Abney, started their UPS careers as part-time employees.
