UK-based postal operator Whistl has doubled its operational capacity in Northern Ireland after expanding its mail sorting depot in Newtownabbey, Belfast, to cover approximately 11,000ft². The project also expanded the operator’s mail sorting capabilities from 32 to 144 bins.

Whistl has been operating in Northern Ireland since 2010 and is the only alternative national postal operator in the province. It handles more than 50 million items a year for clients including Allied Irish Bank and PowerNI.

Nick Wells, CEO of Whistl, said, “We are the only alternative national postal operator in Northern Ireland and the demand for our services from the public and private sector has enabled us to commit to invest in the area and double the capacity of our current operations.”
