Beumer Group, a provider of automated sorting systems for the postal sector, has completed a future-proofing enhancement project for PostNord’s Alfaset parcel sorting facility based in Oslo, Norway.

The project involved upgrading the Afaset facility’s primary sorter, while ensuring the continued operation of the secondary sorting system. PostNord estimates volume growth of 15-20% in business-to-consumer (B2C) parcel volumes in the coming years, and the new improvements will future-proof the post against those demands.

Pål Eier, director for business development at PostNord, said, “The system design and overall layout of the entire facility contribute to greatly reduced handling, shorter lead-times thanks to the higher input capacity, and optimized sorting with a high number of discharge points for direct sorting.”

Beumer has a long history of working with PostNord and installed the company’s first automatic parcel sorting facility in 1992.
