Australia Post has officially opened a new A$500,000 (US$354,180) superstore in Ararat in southwest Victoria. The new store has been designed to cater for changing consumer needs while making it easier for rural customers to access postal services in a modern environment.

Roger Revere, regional manager retail services Victoria, Australia Post, said, “Online shopping in Australia continues to grow so the introduction of a superstore in Ararat provides shoppers with access to postal services six days a week in a new, modern environment.

“Our customers’ needs have changed substantially over time and this superstore is another great example of how we’re changing to meet those needs, investing in the community, and demonstrating our commitment to regional Victoria.”

Key features of the new superstore include a 24/7 zone with additional PO Boxes and new parcel lockers; a dedicated online shopping zone including Apple Macs and iPads; financial services including bill payment and banking; identity services including tax file number applications and passport services; and travel services including foreign currency exchange, travel cards, travel insurance and travel merchandise.

The new Ararat superstore brings the total number of Australia Post superstores to 60 nationwide, and contributes to the company’s commitment of 50 superstores in regional and rural areas by 2020.
