Australia Post has officially opened a new superstore in Broome, Western Australia (WA), following an investment of over A$500,000 (US$384,000) to cater for changing consumer needs and to make it easier and more convenient for customers to access postal services in a modern environment.

Australia Post’s regional manager – retail services, Western Australia, Donna Vecchio, said the new superstore demonstrated Australia Post’s commitment to the Broome community, and it offered local residents and businesses an innovative range of parcel and postal products and services.

“Online shopping in Australia continues to grow so the introduction of a superstore in Broome provides shoppers with access to postal services six days a week in a new, modern environment,” Vecchio said.

“Our customers’ needs have changed substantially over time and this superstore is another great example of how we’re changing to meet those needs, investing in the community, and demonstrating our commitment to regional Western Australia.

“The new superstore features a state-of-the-art design and an extensive range of postal products and services, including 24/7 parcel lockers to make it even easier for customers to pick up parcels at a time that suits them.”

The new superstore features: a refreshed parcel collection area, featuring additional PO boxes and new 24/7 parcel lockers; a dedicated online shopping zone including Apple Macs and iPads; financial services including bill payment and banking; identity services including tax file number applications and passport services; and travel services including foreign currency exchange and travel cards, travel insurance and travel merchandise.

Further demonstrating Australia Post’s commitment to regional and rural communities, the business recently announced a A$51.4m (US$39.5m) boost in payments over the next four years to support its Licensed Post Office (LPO) and Community Postal Agency (CPA) network in regional and rural Australia. A total of 47 postal outlets in the electorate of the Durack division of Western Australia will directly benefit from these increased payments.

The Broome superstore brings the total number of Australia Post superstores to 54 nationwide, and contributes to Australia Post’s commitment of 50 superstores in regional and rural areas by 2020.
