Mail and parcel delivery provider Swiss Post handled a record-breaking 115 million parcels in 2015, marking a 3% increase over the previous year.

The post also processed approximately 2.2 billion letters, with 97.8% of first-class mail and 98.9% of second-class mail reaching its recipients on time. For parcels, 97.5% of PostPac Priority and 97.5% of PostPac Economy parcels all arrived on time.

In light of recent parcel volume increases, Swiss Post has predicted that online trade will continue to grow in Switzerland by approximately 1-2% annually. As such, it has taken steps to upgrade its parcel centers in order to maintain a high quality of service. Two additional sorting systems, one in Frauenfeld and another in the Härkingen parcel center, have already been put into operation and the expansion of the Daillens parcel center is scheduled for completion by the end of 2016. The CHF60m (US$60m) project will increase the centers’ sorting capacities by approximately 25%.
