Forbes names UPS as America’s 66th most just company

UPS has been named one of America’s most ‘just’ companies by Forbes and Just Capital, for the second consecutive year. Just 100 ranks the largest publicly traded corporations in the USA on the issues Americans care about most, including leadership and ethics, worker well-being, job creation, supporting communities, supply chain impact, customer treatment and environmental impact. UPS reached 66th place in this year’s rankings, sandwiched between Motorola and Goldman Sachs.

The Just Capital rankings encompass the 1,000 largest publicly-traded companies in the USA and are based on a comprehensive survey conducted on public attitudes toward corporate behavior, involving 10,000 American respondents in 2017.

Crystal Lassiter, senior director, global sustainability and environmental affairs, UPS, said, “We are honored to be named one of America’s most just companies. At UPS, we’re committed to building for the future – from aggressive sustainability and charitable goals to helping customers pioneer sustainable solutions and giving back to the communities we serve.”

UPS recently announced new sustainability goals to reduce its absolute greenhouse gas emissions from global ground operations, add more alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles to its fleet, and increase its reliance on renewable energy sources. In 2016, UPS employees, friends and family logged more than 2.7 million volunteer hours toward the company’s commitment to achieve 20 million volunteer hours by the end of 2020. UPS also set a new goal that in 2020 its annual total contributions will be US$127m, including humanitarian relief and community safety programs, through The UPS Foundation.

UPS included safety in its new goals, with nearly 10,000 drivers joining its UPS Circle of Honor program, for those who have not had an avoidable accident in 25 years or longer.
