MetaPack, a provider of e-commerce delivery technology, helped facilitate the delivery of 11 million items in the UK over Black Friday and Cyber Monday, representing a 26% increase year-on-year.
These figures reflect other industry intelligence including a report by IMRG, which reported that the amount spent on UK online retail sites on Black Friday alone was up 11.7%.
In terms of industry sectors, MetaPack saw the greatest growth of orders processed via its carrier platform in sport and leisure with a 34% uplift; this was followed by clothes and fashion with 32%; and toys and games, which was up 22%.
Bruce Fair, chief revenue officer at MetaPack, said, “We did anticipate healthy growth over the Cyber Weekend. However, these figures are beyond our expectations and reflect not only the continued huge popularity of Black Friday and the Cyber Weekend, but the success of our retail and carrier partners in engaging customers and meeting their e-commerce expectations.”
