Australia Post has confirmed that it will launch a joint venture with logistics giant Aramex in September 2016, boosting its capacity to service the global e-commerce market.

The joint venture will help connect Australian businesses and consumers to the world economy and the Asian e-commerce market through an improved inbound and outbound experience.

Australia Post will provide last mile delivery in Australia, utilizing the existing network of drivers and postal workers to deliver volumes generated by the joint venture.

Australia Post has also made a strategic investment in Aramex and currently has a 4.5% shareholding. Aramex will invest in StarTrack International (STI), Australia Post’s courier service, helping to expand the company’s operations.

This alliance will complement Australia Post’s range of global alliances, including a 49% joint venture with China Post, Sai Cheng Logistics International.
