FedEx has opened a new logistics facility in Košice, Slovakia, aiming to strengthen connections between eastern Slovakia and global markets and improve access to international trade for local businesses.
The facility is the second-largest FedEx location in the country, covering nearly 1,000m2 with 18 pickup and delivery (PUD) docks and four flexible loading positions that can accommodate vans and long-haul trucks. It expands FedEx’s local capabilities to include processing of larger, palletized freight alongside standard shipments, with direct connections to long-haul routes across Europe and beyond.
FedEx said optimized processes at the new facility have allowed PUD drivers to depart an average of 45 minutes earlier each morning. Processing times for international shipments have been cut in half.

According to a FedEx survey, 85% of Slovak small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) already trading internationally plan to expand into additional markets, placing Slovakia among the most internationally ambitious SME markets in Central and Eastern Europe, alongside Poland.

FedEx currently employs more than 180 people in Slovakia and operates eight facilities nationwide, with connectivity to major hubs in Germany, France and the Netherlands, as well as intercontinental routes to the United States and Asia. The Košice facility follows the recent opening of logistics centers in Nitra and Trenčín as part of a broader expansion of the company’s Slovak operations.
Globally, FedEx connects more than 2.5 million shippers with over 200 million recipients daily, operating in more than 220 countries and territories and processing approximately 18 million shipments a day.
