LinkedIn +

Correos Express, the parcel delivery arm of Spanish postal operator Correos, has opened a new distribution hub in the Spanish city of Murcia with the capacity to process up to 1,500 shipments per hour.

The facility covers 3,000m² (32,300ft²) and has been equipped with a state-of-the-art dynamic weighing system and 40 loading and unloading docks. With the increased processing capacity, Correos Express will expand its fleet and add a further 100 delivery routes to the 600 existing routes in the Levante and Baleares areas.

The Murcia hub will also support Correos Express’s efforts to widen its digital service offering for customers by facilitating flexible delivery options, advanced digital signatures, the proactive management of driver and customer incidents, and providing drivers with the immediate location of the recipient.

Furthermore, the distribution hub will support Correos’s Alternative Ecological and Sustainable Delivery Means Project (MARES) by reducing the environmental impact of local deliveries and overcoming various challenges associated with delivering in the last mile.
