UK customers will have more choice for sending and receiving parcels from January 2025 thanks to a new partnership between Royal Mail and Yeep! that will see 1,000 lockers rolled out in the new year.

By early 2025, there will be over 21,000 locations where Royal Mail customers can send and receive parcels, including over 2,500 lockers, 11,500 Post Office branches, 5,000 Collect+ stores, 1,200 Royal Mail Customer Service Points and 1,200 parcel postboxes.

Service transformation

Nick Landon, Royal Mail’s chief commercial officer, said, “This partnership and our growing number of parcel lockers is an important part of Royal Mail’s strategy to expand our options to make sending and receiving parcels as convenient as possible. We are working hard to modernize and transform our business by offering a wider range of options to suit the busy lifestyles and changing needs of our customers across the UK.

“We are continually finding new ways to improve our services, including more online postage options through our website and app, 24/7 drop off at locations like our parcel postboxes, use of Collect+ stores and Post Offices, and collection from home through Royal Mail Parcel Collect.”

Expanding network

Yeep!, which launched the UK’s first battery-powered parcel locker last year, will expand its network to 3,000 lockers by the end of 2025. Its current network primarily covers London and the South East and but the company is expanding across the UK.

Noël Shapton, Yeep! CEO and co-founder, explained, “I am thrilled Yeep! is partnering with Royal Mail, helping to expand its parcel locker network, offering customers more choice in how they send and receive their parcels.

“This partnership marks a milestone for Yeep! as we continue in our journey to provide community-based lockers to customers across the whole of the UK. Our Yeep! parcel lockers provide a dense network located in the heart of communities, giving customers an easy and convenient way to collect and drop off their parcels 24/7.”

Royal Mail is also rolling out its locker network in partnership with Quadient, with 1,500 lockers expected by the end of 2024 and a further 3,000 in the future.
