GXO Logistics has implemented an automated truck loading system for Grupa Żywiec at its site in Elbląg, Poland, aiming to increase throughput, improve safety and standardize operations.
The system, known as Autoload, automates the loading and unloading of trailers, replacing traditional forklift-based processes. Instead of loading pallets individually, the system moves an entire trailer load in a single cycle, reducing loading time to around two minutes.
According to GXO, the automated process reduces the risk of human error and limits the use of material handling equipment at loading docks, contributing to improved workplace safety. The system is also designed to deliver consistent process quality and can be integrated with existing warehouse automation technologies.
Jean-Luc Bessade, managing director for Central Europe at GXO, said the deployment reflects the company’s focus on automation. “We are proud to introduce another joint innovation with Grupa Żywiec, our trusted partner for over seven years,” he said. “As a technology leader and early adopter of advanced automation, GXO continues to set new benchmarks for operational performance.”
He added that nearly half of GXO’s revenue in Central Europe is generated from automated operations, supporting efficiency gains and long-term customer growth.
The system also enables a higher volume of transportation movements using the same infrastructure, which may help reduce operational costs.
Michał Kalinowski, contract logistics manager at Grupa Żywiec, said the technology supports productivity and supply chain performance. “In an increasingly complex food and beverage supply chain, GXO stands out as a trusted partner who understands our specific needs,” he said. “By leveraging advanced technology, GXO helps us boost productivity, safety and sustainability, allowing us to focus our resources on what matters most – growing our core business.”
The installation builds on a partnership between the two companies that has been in place for more than a decade. Previous initiatives have included efforts to reduce energy consumption and improve returns processes, contributing to lower glass usage.
