Aramex agrees contract to build fully-automated hub in Dubai

Al Ashram Investments, a Dubai-based investment firm, announced today (June 15) that it has signed a partnership agreement with logistics and postal provider Aramex to build and leaseback a new Express Courier Facility in Dubai.

Al Ashram Contracting, a subsidiary of Al Ashram Investments, will construct the new AED75m (US$20m) facility on a fast-track build-to-suit basis, with completion scheduled within seven months. The facility has been designed to employ the latest technologies and will become Aramex’s first fully automated hub in the region.

Hussein Wehbe, general manager of Aramex in the UAE, said, “We are pleased to be partnering with Al Ashram Investments in building our new Express Courier Facility in Dubai, which will be Aramex’s first fully automated facility in the region. The facility will be equipped with innovative state-of-the-art technologies, for higher capacity, faster sortation process and reduced transit times. We believe this will allow us to meet the growing customer demand for rapid and more efficient shipment deliveries. We will remain committed to investing in innovation as we grow our operations in the UAE.”

Al Ashram will construct the Express Courier Facility in compliance with Dubai’s Green Building Regulations and Specifications, which aim to create a more sustainable urban environment. The regulations and specifications stipulate that the construction of buildings should be done in a manner to reduce the consumption of energy, water, and materials, and improve public health, safety, and general welfare.
