Amazon has expanded its Locker network to more than 750 locations at colleges and universities across the USA, giving students a secure way to receive orders close to where they live and study.
The locations span more than 500 campuses nationwide, with some colleges and universities offering multiple locker pickup points. Students can select a campus Locker at checkout for eligible orders at no additional cost and pick them up on their own schedule.
Viraj Chatterjee, vice president of last-mile technologies at Amazon, said, “College students are constantly on the move, and picking up a package should fit into their day – not the other way around. Expanding Amazon Locker across college and university campuses nationwide puts secure package pickup directly into the flow of campus life.”
The college Locker locations are part of Amazon’s broader network of more than 25,000 package pickup locations across the USA.
To use Amazon Locker, students can search by address or ZIP code to find a nearby location, add it to their Amazon address book, and select it as the delivery location at checkout. They can also review operating hours and directions before choosing a Locker.
When a package arrives, Amazon sends an email with instructions for opening the locker using a code, barcode or the Amazon Shopping app. Packages are held for three calendar days, after which uncollected orders are automatically returned and refunded. Students can also have someone else collect a package by forwarding them the delivery confirmation email and pickup instructions.
