Australia Post delivers nearly 111 million parcels during peak festive period

Australia Post delivered almost 111 million parcels across November and December 2025, marking its busiest peak season on record as online shopping activity continued to grow across Australia.

Parcel volumes were up 7.6% year on year, driven by early promotional activity and strong consumer demand during the Cyber Sales weekend. The surge resulted in Australia Post’s busiest delivery day to date, with more than three million parcels delivered on Monday, December 8.

According to Australia Post, 7.9 million Australian households shopped online during the two-month period, an increase of 300,000 households compared with the previous year. Athleisure recorded the strongest year-on-year growth at 24.7%, followed by women’s fashion at 21.2% and department stores at 15.7%.

Western Australia led the country in growth in online purchases, up 15.2% year on year, followed by Queensland (10%), South Australia (9%), and New South Wales (8.3%). Toowoomba and Mackay in Queensland and Point Cook in Victoria were the top postcodes for online shopping. Richmond (Victoria), Bondi Junction (New South Wales) and Geelong (Victoria) recorded the highest use of Australia Post’s express delivery services.

Australia Post executive general manager for parcel, post, and e-commerce services Gary Starr said the network delivered 3,075 parcels every minute and around two million parcels a day for more than 30 days.

“These results are the product of months of detailed planning, continued investment in our operations and network capacity, and the extraordinary effort of our team members nationwide – working around the clock to keep parcels moving when it matters most,” Starr said.

“What stands out most this year is how much our customers have shaped the way we operate. Their need for greater reliability, easier ways to manage deliveries, and a more seamless online-to-doorstep experience have shaped every enhancement we’ve made.”

During the peak period, 5.7 million Australians used the AusPost app to track deliveries, generating more than 119 million visits.
