GLS Hungary has opened its parcel locker network to external partners, with DPD Hungary becoming the first company to join the system.
DPD parcels will be available for pickup from a “significant share” of GLS lockers nationwide, the partners said in a statement.
The cooperation is expected to enhance convenience for customers and improve operational efficiency, while meeting the demands of the fast-growing e-commerce market.
The two companies had already established cooperation in Germany and the Czech Republic.
Szabolcs Czifrik, managing director of DPD Hungary, said, “DPD is committed to innovation and sustainable operations. Our partnership with GLS goes beyond expanding our network – it represents a step toward a more efficient logistics ecosystem. Our goal is to create value both for our customers and for the market through continuous development.”
Attila Balázs, managing director of GLS Hungary, added, “A few weeks ago, we celebrated the installation of our 2,500th parcel locker. With this, we now provide highly flexible parcel solutions through nearly 3,500 pickup points across more than 740 municipalities. This new partnership will make our network even more sustainable and accessible to a wider range of customers.”
The number of parcel lockers in the country has more than doubled since September 2023, with more than 9,400 now available to Hungarian consumers. This agreement will reportedly help with the rising expectations of online shoppers, as more than 1,400 additional lockers will offer pickup for DPD parcels.
From early 2026, approximately 3,000 pickup locations nationwide will support flexible parcel collection for DPD customers.
