GLS Spain has strengthened its fulfillment capabilities with the opening of a new facility in Torrejón de Ardoz, Madrid, offering logistics management services for product stock, warehousing, picking and packing and distribution.
The new GLS Spain Fulfilment logistics center is strategically located with direct access to the A-2 and M-50 highways and will consolidate the operational capacity currently covered by the GLS Spain centers in Coberteras and Fuentemar.
GLS Fulfilment in Spain will be led by Juan Sandes, senior manager strategy, out of home and fulfillment at GLS Spain. “The opening of this new facility strengthens GLS Spain’s position in the development of fulfillment solutions, enabling us to respond to the growing demand from companies needing comprehensive logistics outsourcing,” he said. “It gives us greater capacity and operational efficiency, strategically positioning the company as a sector benchmark.”
Phased opening
With a total area of 11,136m² and 432m² of office space, this new GLS Spain facility will be opened in phases. In the first phase, 4,993m² will be occupied, adapted to current storage needs, with the option of gradual expansion as the business evolves. This scalable solution enables GLS Spain to anticipate future logistics demands and ensure continued operations, with available extra space and even potential expansion into adjacent modules.
The facility includes five trailer docks, a van access ramp and a series of optimized entry points for industrial vehicles, private cars and pedestrians. It also includes two charging points for electric vehicles, solar panels and rooftop photovoltaic panels and incorporates a biophilic design to align with GLS Spain’s sustainability goals.
