UK-based parcel delivery provider Yodel has begun operating from three new regional service centers in Livingston in Scotland, Waltham Cross in Hertfordshire and Southwark in London.
The new additions are part of Yodel’s ongoing £30m (US$45m) investment program and will help the operator to deliver up to 4.9 million parcels per week in the run-up to Christmas.
Dick Stead, executive chairman of Yodel, said, “These recent investments form part of our structured plan to increase not only capacity, but also the quality of Yodel’s service center infrastructure. With our long-term goals focused on providing excellent customer service, these developments demonstrate the ongoing commitment Yodel has to consumers.”
Keith Basnett, chief operating officer at Yodel, said, “We are delighted with the opening of three more strategic sites. They strengthen our stamp on the industry as we continually explore new ways to streamline the delivery process and ensure we can provide a top-quality service to our clients and their customers.
“More locations are being investigated to further optimize our network, and we expect to open more centers in 2016.”
Earlier this year, Yodel boosted its last mile capability by 22% by opening additional service centers in Northampton in Northamptonshire, Selby in Yorkshire, Farnborough in Hampshire and Alfreton in Derbyshire. Yodel now has more than 50 regional service centers across the UK, each supplied by three central sorts strategically located at Shaw in Oldham, Wednesbury in the West Midlands and Hatfield in Hertfordshire.
