Bring Intermodal is to launch a new train route between Malmö and Oslo via Jönköping from mid-December, creating a direct link to Europe.
Replacing the previous Älmhult–Torsvik–Oslo route, the new route will run Malmö–Älmhult–Jönköping–Oslo. The train’s start in Malmö makes it possible to bring in goods directly from Europe via both rail and ferry from Germany. Bring says this provides it with a unique position – the only company with a direct intermodal connection between Jönköping and Europe.
The Malmö–Jönköping route, which was previously driven by truck, will now be via rail. This change is estimated to reduce CO2 emissions by just over 96% compared to road transportation.
“The new train has a late departure time from Jönköping, where many of our customers are. This means that we can offer short lead times, with late drop-off in Jönköping in the evening, and delivery to end customers in Oslo the very next morning,” said Erik Roth, executive VP for international logistics, Bring.
The 100% electric train will run entirely under its own management, giving Bring full control over planning, capacity and punctuality from its departure in Malmö to its 05:30 arrival in Oslo.
